"It seemed like everybody was leaving my side. But Sam stuck in there with me.”

EddieIn and out of jail since he was 15, mostly for theft, Eddie was able to begin getting his life in order thanks to the steady support of JobsPlus’ inmate mentoring program. Eddie’s mentor, Sam, visited him in seven jails, working tirelessly to get him to change, faithfully breathing the word of God into him. He befriended Eddie’s family and even helped mend a relationship with them that was strained. At one point his mother hadn’t spoken with Eddie for two years. But Sam would regularly bring Eddie’s family to visit him in jail.

“My family loves Sam,” a tearful Eddie says. “He has been a blessing to me. It seemed like everybody was leaving my side. But Sam stuck in there with me.”

Things began clicking for Eddie when he landed a job at Nehemiah Manufacturing through JobsPlus. He received two promotions in a span a few months. With the help of Nehemiah, he started going to counseling and soon moved into his own apartment for the first time. And best of all, Eddie began attending church with his mother.

“It’s amazing how far I’ve come,” Eddie says. “And I feel good. I really feel good.”

Says Sam in a letter: “The Lord has a plan for Eddie and Eddie knows it. It was only through JobsPlus and the Lord’s intervention that Eddie got employment at Nehemiah.”

Eddie is grateful for JobsPlus and Sam.

Says Eddie, “If you are dedicated to being a better person, changing yourself, wanting better things, JobsPlus is going to help you with that. JobsPlus is going to open their door no matter what … and make sure you get the help that you need. And I’m very grateful … God is good.”
