Step Forward Team Training
Train with Us!
Led by volunteer Group Run Leader Chris Heiert of Procter & Gamble, the Step Forward team celebrated its fourth year participating in the Flying Pig Marathon in 2011. If you are interested in training with our team, please join us at City Gospel Mission every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 9:15 a.m. beginning in March 2012. Everyone is welcome!
The Step Forward Team training program is a key component in the recovery process for the men and women in City Gospel Mission’s programs. The team was launched in 2008 as a way to educate participants on the important role physical fitness and proper nutrition has in the recovery process. Our 8-week training program leads up to participating in various races on Flying Pig Marathon weekend.

Whiz Kids (Youth) Training
Participating in the Flying Pig Kid’s Marathon is a great way for students in City Gospel Mission's Whiz Kids program to stay connected with their tutors/mentors and parents.
Children ages 5-12 team up with a fitness “buddy” or “buddies” -- their tutor and/or parent(s) -- and run, walk, jog or wheelchair 25 miles in small increments at their own pace over a period of time leading up to the Flying Pig kid's event.
