God Is Giving Me Opportunities
If you watched the Flying Pig
Marathon or read about it in the
local papers, you might have seen
Clyde. At six foot three and 225
pounds, he’s hard to miss. What’s
even harder to miss is the smile
on his face as he jogs through
downtown and Over-the-Rhine
each day.
Running isn’t just an exercise
for Clyde. It’s his way of thanking
God for rescuing him from a 20-
year struggle with drugs! "After
all the cocaine and marijuana I
did I’m lucky to be alive. Some of
my friends who’ve been on the same
path are dead."
"I’ve been blessed!"
Clyde has been through other
programs, but none have worked for
him like the Exodus Program at City
Gospel Mission. "God has allowed me
to see a lot of things and realize I’m
here for a reason and a purpose."
Staying in the Exodus Program
has been difficult for Clyde and his family. "It’s been pretty tough because
I’ve got two kids in college and
another one headed for Ohio State.
But my wife has been taking care of
everything since I’ve been here. She
has two jobs to take up my slack and
that’s been hard. But it’s a real blessing
that she still believes in me. I guess
there’s something that she sees in me
that I probably can’t see in myself."
"I think God is molding me for a
purpose. I want to help others who
were in the same situation. But in
order for me to help them I have to
make a commitment to myself to stay
the course."
